A Nominating Committee consisting of Drs Roberto Zanetti (chair, Italy), Ankarath Nandakumar (India) and Maria Shymura (USA) received confirmation of one candidate for the vacant position: Ms Helen Farrugia (Australia). Voting members from the Oceania region had the opportunity to propose other nominations by 5 August 2011.
The Secretariat can confirm that as at 5 August 2011 there were no further nominations. Dr Edwards (President)has agreed that, as the only nominated candidate, Ms Helen Farrugia would be duly elected as Regional Representative (Oceania). Her term of office is for the remainder of a four-year term, starting from 11 October 2010, as agreed at the 2010 Executive Board Meeting in Yokohama.
