This meeting was held in association with the biannual meeting of AORTIC (African Association
for Research and Treatment of Cancer). It comprised a 3 hour workshop as part of the AORTIC meeting,
and a one day meeting of the African Association of Cancer Registries. The topics for the IACR regional general meeting included: - Computer programs for registries - Problems in the use of ICD classification - Methods of case finding in rural areas - Follow up studies of survival in Africa - methods and problems - Problems of estimating population at risk - Paediatric cancer registration in Africa - Publishing registry results- a new “Cancer in Africa”? - Support for cancer registries in Africa IACR, together with the International Union against Cancer (UICC) and National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the USA supported the participation of 29 participants at this meeting. |
